The Real and the Romantic: English Art since 1900 received from The Times the accolade ‘Best Art Book of the Year’. It was also short-listed among the Apollo  Awards, for the  best art book of the year. The continuing  interest in this book brings me further opportunities in 2023 to walk round it from new perspectives and to reflect on the diversity of British Art during that period. I will be addressing this subject in different ways at two Literary Festivals, at King’s Lynn (18th July) and Berwick in October, and at the East Anglian Fund Annual Lecture at the Hostry, Norwich Cathedral, on the 22nd November. 2023 is also the diamond jubilee of the reopening of St Mark's Church in Broomhill, which  George Pace largely rebuilt following bomb damage during the  war. Part of the celebrations will be my talk about Piper and stained glass, including the window he did for St Mark’s.
